Frequently Asked Questions
What is your educational and professional background?
I graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Social Work from West Chester University and a Master’s in Social Work from Bryn Mawr College School of Clinical Social Work and Social Research. I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in the state of Pennsylvania. As a Social Worker, I have worked in the areas of child welfare, drug and alcohol challenges, homelessness, and with parents and children involved in the family court system. As a psychotherapist, I have experience facilitating groups and individual sessions focused on trauma, HIV support, sexuality, gender identity, life transitions, shame, grief and loss, relationships, and family dynamics.
How long have you been practicing therapy?
I have been practicing therapy since 2014 and continue to engage in trainings and continued education to further my professional knowledge and keep up with changes in the field and in the world.
What can I expect from you in therapy?
I often bring humor into sessions and may sometimes share with you things about my life, like a hobby I’m into or an event I feel excited about. I may introduce you to my pets during virtual sessions, or ask you to introduce me to yours.
Therapy can be as fun as it can be challenging, and everything in between. As your therapist, I will keep the focus on you but I will be a real person who you can build a connection with. I bring my full authentic self to our sessions. While we may have challenging or uncomfortable moments, my promise is that I will be present to hold space for you as we navigate the ebbs and flows of healing and self-discovery.
My ultimate goal is for you to thrive in whatever ways are important to you. I encourage you to bring up any questions or concerns you have at any point in the process. I will keep an open mind and expect you to do the same.
How do you store my private information?
I use a secure HIPAA compliant online portal called Simple Practice where I store all client information and notes. I will send you a link to join the portal before our first session, and you will be asked to review, complete, and sign a few quick forms. You may enter your payment information which will be saved in the portal. Following each of our sessions, I will charge the session fee to your card. If you would rather your card not be saved in the portal, I can take payment during the last few minutes of each session.
What is your cancellation policy?
If you need to cancel a session, please reach out to me 24 hours before the scheduled session time or the full session fee will be charged to your card.
